چکیده

The revision of main and alternative banding sequences in chromosome I (AB) have been made for all 14 species of the Chironomus plumosus (Linnaeus, 1758) group. New version of mapping had been suggested for 14 out of 22 banding sequences of arm A. Mapping of 18 banding sequences in arm B have been made for the first time according to Maximova-Shobanov system. Phylogenetic relationships of the banding sequences of chromosome I are discussed.

A revision of chromosome II (CD) mapping in Chironomus plumosus (Linnaeus, 1758) group (Diptera, Chironomidae)

A revision of the main and alternative banding sequences in chromosome II (CD) has been made for all 14 species of the Chironomus plumosus (Linnaeus, 1758)group. A new version of mapping has been suggested for 10 out of 18 banding sequences of arm C and 12 out of 22 banding sequences of arm D. Mapping of 7 banding sequences has been done for the first time according to the Keyl-Devai system. Ph...

Cytogenetic divergence of genomes in Chironomus plumosus group (Diptera: Chironomidae)

The phylogenetic relationships and karyotype differentiation of 14 sibling species of Chironomus plumosus group were studied using comparative analysis of polytene chromosome banding sequences. Revision of banding sequence pools has been made for all species. Main and alternative banding sequences of 6 chromosomal arms (A, B, C, D, E, and F) of each species were used for the analysis. In total ...

Effect of Contaminants on the Genome of Some Species of Genus Chironomus (Chironomidae, Diptera) Live in Sediments of Dunajec River and Czorsztyn Reservoir

The effect of contaminants on the genomes of Chironomus plumosus L. and Chironomus bernensis Wülker, Klötzli species was studied in the Dunajec River (station 1) and in the littoral of Czorsztyn Reservoir (stations 2 and 3). According to the index of geoaccumulation, the sediments were polluted by cadmium (Cd) and chromium (Cr). Cd concentrations at stations 1, 2, and 3 were 0.71, 0.56, and 1.2...

Genomic changes in speciation of the family Chironomidae, Diptera

Article info: Received: 20 May 2014 Accepted: 18 September 2014 ABSTRACT The mode of speciation adopted by a species or group of related species of animals (insects) is clearly determined to a certain extent by the architecture of their genetic system. Chromosome rearrangements, the localization and appearance of the heterochromatin as well as the reproductive relations in sympatric, allopathri...

Using various lines of evidence to identify Chironomus species (Diptera: Chironomidae) in eastern Canadian lakes.

Chironomus Meigen (Diptera, Chironomidae) larvae are usually the largest sediment-burrowing chironomids, and as such often constitute a major part of the freshwater infaunal biomass. However, use of this genus in ecological, environmental and paleoecological studies is hampered by the fact that Chironomus larvae are difficult to identify to species because the larvae of many species are morphol...
